OVERALL EQUIPMENT EFFECTIVENESS (OEE)

Many had known the concepts for years, and many had practiced it using manual entries on paper. OEE is often tied to Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and therefore should be taken seriously.

The problem with manual entry is that the number of occurrences and their duration is often wildly estimated, thus giving you a False Sense of "Effectiveness". What was logged in as a 5 minutes breakdown might well actually be a 20 minutes breakdown.
